Top 10 Kayastha Setu App Features You Should Try This Year

Kayastha Setu is a family app built by the samaj, for the samaj. It has grown into a place where you can find relatives, plan your puja, stay safe, help in emergencies, and even decide what to cook tonight. With so many sections, it is easy to miss a few useful ones.

So here is a simple list of ten features that every Kayastha family should try this year. Most of them are completely free.

1. Family Tree

Build your vansh vriksh with photos and dates. Add parents, grandparents, children and in-laws, each with a photo, birth year, city and occupation. If a relative is already on the app, search and link them so their tree joins yours. Share the tree with cousins and let them add the branches they know.

Why try it: names of great-grandparents get lost if nobody writes them down. The tree is visible only inside the app, never on the open web. Explore Family Tree.

2. Family Directory

Think of it as the samaj uncle who knows everybody, now in your pocket. Search Kayastha families by name, city, occupation or sub-community, and open a clean profile with photo and family details. Every member signs up with a mobile OTP, so the people you find are real.

Good to know: the full directory is part of Premium. Free members can see 3 full directory contacts per day. Explore Family Directory.

3. Daily Panchang

Is today Ekadashi? When is Rahu Kaal? Daily Panchang answers in one tap. See tithi, paksha, nakshatra, yoga, karana, sunrise and sunset, auspicious and inauspicious timings, and upcoming festivals and vrat, all calculated for your location.

Tip: today's tithi also shows right on the app home screen. Explore Daily Panchang.

4. SOS Emergency

This is the button you hope you never need. Add up to 5 emergency contacts and fill your medical card with blood group, allergies and medicines. In an emergency, hold the SOS button for 3 seconds. Your contacts automatically get an SMS with your name, live location and a map link, even if they do not have the app or internet. Contacts who use the app also get a loud, vibrating alert.

Why try it: set it up today for elderly parents and anyone who travels late. India helpline numbers are one tap away too. Explore SOS Emergency.

5. Blood Donors

In an emergency, every minute counts. Find community members who have opted in to donate, by blood group and city, with compatible groups shown automatically. Post an urgent request with the hospital and units needed, and matching donors in that city get a notification right away.

Do your part: become a donor with one switch, and mark your last donation date so nobody calls you too soon. Explore Blood Donors.

6. Gyan Mahasangram Live Quiz

Every Sunday evening the whole samaj plays together. Computer Mahashay, the talking host, reads each question in Hindi and English, and you have ten seconds to answer. Fifteen right answers in a row win the 1,00,000-point jackpot. You get one 50:50 lifeline per game.

Tip: practise any time from a bank of 1,000+ questions before the next show. Explore Live Quiz.

7. Digital Mala

Count your daily jaap on a beautiful digital mala. Choose Rudraksha, Tulsi, Chandan, Kamal Gatta or Sphatik, pick a count of 11, 21, 51, 108 or your own number, and a mantra such as "ॐ श्री चित्रगुप्ताय नमः". Then tap anywhere on the screen; one tap moves one bead.

Why try it: your eyes can stay closed. A soft vibration marks each bead, and a temple bell rings when the mala is complete. The app keeps your daily streak. Explore Digital Mala.

8. Kaya, the AI Assistant

Not everyone likes searching through menus. With Kaya, you simply ask by voice or text in Hindi or English: "Aaj ka panchang batao", "Lucknow mein doctor" or "Mere liye koi job hai?". Kaya gives a clear answer or opens the right screen in seconds.

Best for: elders and first-time users. Kaya is right on the home screen. Explore Kaya.

9. Aaj Kya Banaye? Rasoi Sakhi

"Aaj khane mein kya banaun?" is the most-asked question in every Indian home. Choose the meal, the diet (veg, Jain, vrat, egg or non-veg), how much time you have, the mood and what is in the kitchen. Rasoi Sakhi suggests three dish ideas, then the full recipe with an ingredient checklist and step timers.

Tip: tap 👍 or 👎 so she learns what your family likes, and save family favourites in "Meri recipes". Explore Aaj Kya Banaye.

10. Doctor, Vakil and Professionals

Need a good doctor in a new city, an advocate for a property matter, or a CA before the tax deadline? Ask the samaj. This section lists doctors, advocates, chartered accountants, architects, pandit ji, tutors and more from the community. Search by profession, speciality or city and call or WhatsApp in one tap.

Good to know: you can see how many members recommend each professional, and many offer a special discount for community members. Professionals can list themselves for free. Explore Professionals.

A few more worth a look

Ten is never enough for a big family app. Also try Kayastha Gyan for the story of Chitragupta ji and the 12 vansh, Live Aarti for darshan from home, Kids Zone for safe, ad-free games, and Shubh Sandesh for good morning cards with your own photo and name.
