1Who we are
Kayastha Setu ("we", "us") operates the Kayastha Setu app and website. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It is written in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.

3How we use your data
- To create and secure your account, and verify your mobile number;
- To show your profile in the family directory, matrimony, business directory and timeline as per the features you use;
- To send birthday, event, aarti and match notifications;
- To process Premium payments, issue GST invoices and display the Verified badge;
- To prevent fraud, spam and misuse, and to enforce our Terms;
- To improve the Platform using aggregated, de-identified analytics;
- To comply with legal obligations and lawful requests from authorities.
4What other members can see
Your name, photo, city and occupation are visible to logged-in members in the directory. Matrimony details are visible only to members using matrimony, and contact details only as permitted by the feature and your plan. Timeline posts are visible to the community. You can edit or remove profile details at any time from My Account.
6Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (e.g. payment and GST invoices for 8 years) or to resolve disputes.
7How we protect your data
We use HTTPS encryption, OTP-based authentication, access controls and secure cloud infrastructure. No system is 100% secure, so please keep your OTPs private and log out on shared devices.
8Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you may:
- Access a summary of your personal data and how it is processed;
- Correct, update or complete your data;
- Withdraw consent and request erasure of your data / deletion of your account;
- Nominate a person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity;
- Raise a grievance with us, and thereafter with the Data Protection Board of India.

9Children
Accounts are for adults (18+). Kids Zone is meant to be used by children only under a parent's account and supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children or use it for tracking or targeted advertising.
11Grievance Officer
For any privacy concern or complaint, contact our Grievance Officer at grievance@kayasthasetu.com. Address: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or the law change. We will notify you in the app for significant changes. The "Last updated" date shows the current version.
