For centuries Kayastha families valued learning, public service and the written word. It is no surprise that the community has given India many of its leaders, writers, thinkers and scientists. What their lives teach us
Look closely and a pattern appears: learning, honesty, service to the nation and the courage to stand for what is right. These are the same values the samaj honours every year on Kalam-Dawat Puja. Telling children these stories — at dinner, on a long drive, or on Chitragupta Puja — is one of the best ways to pass those values on.
