From Panchang to Live Quiz: A Day in the Kayastha Setu App

Many families tell us that Kayastha Setu has quietly become a part of their daily routine. One app, from the morning puja to the evening family game. So let us walk you through one full day — a Sunday, because Sunday has something special in the evening — and show how different members of a family can use the app from sunrise to night.

Early morning: Panchang before puja

Dadi ji wakes up first. Before she lights the diya, she wants to know the tithi. She does not need to look for the calendar on the wall. Today’s tithi shows right on the app home screen.

When she opens Daily Panchang, she sees everything for the day, calculated for her own location:

  • Tithi and paksha, in Hindi and English
  • Nakshatra, yoga and karana
  • Sunrise and sunset for where she lives
  • Rahu Kaal and auspicious timings
  • Upcoming vrat and festivals

If there is an Ekadashi coming, or a puja to plan, she knows it in one tap.

Puja time: Live Aarti, bhajans and mala

Not every elder can go to the temple every morning. With Live Aarti, the home screen shows a clear “Live now” badge when an aarti is streaming. Dadi ji taps it and joins the darshan from her chair.

After the aarti, she opens Darshan, Aarti & Bhajan, swipes to Shri Chitragupta Ji Maharaj and plays the Chitragupta Vandana with Hindi lyrics on screen. From the same page she starts a jaap on the Digital Mala — Rudraksha, Tulsi, Chandan, Kamal Gatta or Sphatik, with a count of 11, 21, 51, 108 or her own number. She simply taps anywhere on the screen; each tap moves one bead, a soft vibration on every bead, and a temple bell when the mala is complete. Her daily streak keeps going.

Dadaji prefers Gita Saar. He reads a few shlokas with simple Hindi and English meaning, and listens as each word lights up with the audio.

Good morning to the whole samaj

Papa likes to send good-morning wishes to the family WhatsApp groups. In Shubh Sandesh he picks a card, taps “Use Mine”, and his own photo and name appear on it. One tap and it is on WhatsApp.

He also checks the Suprabhat Parivar wall to see who in the samaj wished good morning today, and sends a pranam back. Meanwhile, the Community Timeline has a fresh daily thought waiting.

Mid-morning: birthdays and wishes

A gentle morning notification reminds Mummy whose birthday it is today. In Birthdays, Wishes & Gifts she sees today, this week and this month. She sends a one-tap wish to her cousin, and the cousin gets a lovely notification in return.

Lunch question: “Aaj kya banaye?”

Every Indian home asks this question daily. Mummy opens Aaj Kya Banaye and tells Rasoi Sakhi AI the meal, the diet (veg, Jain, vrat, egg or non-veg), how much time she has and the mood. She gets three dish ideas, then a full recipe with an ingredient checklist and step timers. If she wants Nani’s style instead, she looks in Recipes & Parampara, where members share traditional family recipes.

Afternoon: work, help and the samaj

The afternoon is when practical things get done. Bhaiya, who is looking for a new job, searches Kayastha Jobs by role and city, and applies in one tap with his saved resume. A neighbour needs a good doctor, so Papa opens Doctor, Vakil & Professionals and finds one by speciality and city, with member recommendations.

Didi, who loves writing, posts a new poem in Kalam Dawaat, the writers’ corner of the samaj.

Evening: Kids Zone

After homework, the children open Kids Zone. It has more than twenty safe, ad-free games — 8-ball pool, Rang Jodo colour sort, Bubble Toofan, the daily Hindi-English Shabd Setu word puzzle, chess and tambola. No pop-up ads and no strangers, so parents can relax.

Sunday night: Gyan Mahasangram, the live quiz

Now comes the best part of Sunday. Every Sunday evening the whole samaj plays Gyan Mahasangram together. The family joins the show from the app home before it starts.

Here is how it works:

  1. Computer Mahashay, the talking host, reads each question aloud in Hindi and English.
  2. Everyone gets the same question at the same moment, and you have ten seconds to answer.
  3. Each right answer takes you up the points ladder. Fifteen right answers in a row win the jackpot of 1,00,000 points.
  4. You get one 50:50 lifeline per game to remove two wrong options.

Get one wrong and you are out — but you can keep watching, see who wins on the winners board, and practise for next week any time from a bank of more than 1,000 questions.

Dadaji answers the history questions, the children answer the science ones, and everyone shouts at the screen together. That is the real jackpot.

Good night

As the day ends, the good-morning wall turns into a Shubh Ratri wall. Papa sends a good-night card, Dadi ji checks tomorrow’s tithi, and the phone goes to rest.

Your day may look different, and that is perfectly fine — use the parts that help your family the most. Most of what you read here is free on Kayastha Setu, and the app works in Hindi, English, Marathi and Bengali. Start tomorrow morning with the Panchang, and we will see you at the live quiz on Sunday evening!
